So, I have't been on top of it since we got up here, but I have a few things to share. We have been starting to venture out and see what there is to see in the area and also enjoy the fun winter activities now that we are getting settled in.
A couple weekends ago, we ventured out for a drive. We headed to a natural hotspring about 60 miles from Fairbanks. It was a pretty drive through the woods, and we managed to see some moose along the way. We will definitely be taking a trip back out to the hotsprings some other time to enjoy the warm relaxing water and the many other activities offered out there.
Last weekend we went out and bought snow gear for the big people in the house and we even found ice skates for those that are big enough to do so. So, on Sunday afternoon we went to the local indoor arena and tried out our skating legs. Yeah, it's been awhile! Jerry and I managed to stay on our skates most of the time, and by the end of the open skate time Noah was too. He was such a trooper. He stuck to it and with a bit more practice, he will definitely be ready to try hockey next winter.
One of Noah's many falls, but we are so proud of him for getting back up.
Nice save!
A little help from Dad never hurt!
Look at me, I can do it all on my own!
This week/weekend should prove to be interesting as the Yukon Quest is finishing up here in Fairbanks. The mushers have already started to come in and the remaining teams should finish out sometime in the next day or two. This week is also the start of the Ice Art Championships here in Fairbanks, so keep checking back for updates and pics of those events.
See, you don't have to have sun to have fun!
